1st Gear not working troubleshoot

Hi. Today I got attacked by a tree stump about 5"-6" tall that I didn't see, and the bike's underside grinded on it.
The bike won't shift to 1st gear after that.
I bought it only a few days ago, and it was due for an oil change, which I ordered and am expecting tomorrow. (I bought a 20W-50)
The rest of the gears shift fine, although with a clank. It was tough hitting neutral even before the event.
I am dreading a destroyed trany. Give me hope?

The usual culprit is a bent shift fork which is not very happy. Before getting to crazy examine the external linkage then the accessible parts under the external cover for any obvious damage.
