Clutch/brake levers

Hi there. I recently purchased a 2008 Yamaha Vstar 250.  This is my first bike and I couldn’t be happier with that. Except for one thing… I am a small-ish female and I’m finding that the span on the clutch and brake levers is difficult for me to reach. I feel this is a safety issue for me. My husband is very mechanical and would be able to install adjustable brake and clutch levers, but we can’t find a part number anywhere. Has anyone else had this problem? And how did you solve it? I have read and other forums that people have heated and bent the levers but that they break very easily. I’m not sure that I want to compromise the strength of the aluminum… Another potential safety issue. If anybody has a part number for adjustable levers that would fit my bike I would be eternally grateful.
