That story on the link page is good advice - When I was younger I used to do what he called Trail Braking all the time, I just found it to be the safest way to ride fast, because you want & need to have the most control of the motorcycle as you possibly could and Braking right up to the point of exit was and still is the best way to achieve that control needed ...
What else is needed for Fast Riding around twisty roads is Commitment - Once you have reached that point of the corner when there is no backing out of it you are committed to the corner and you had better be prepared for what that corner can throw at you, Bumps, broken surface/s, gravel, Oil, Diesel spill ...
These skills are sometimes learnt from Near Crash situations - where you Scare the Crap out of yourself but survived to tell the tale - you learn to be a little more cautious next time ...
But to call the Young Rider a 'RACER' leaves me to question what sort of Racer IS he ??? Where you go barrelling into a Fast Downhill corner without using the brakes (front especially as explained) at all, is just Looking for Trouble - and IF there had have been any traffic on that road the young guy might not have made it ....
Stupid & Dumb is what I would call the young fool - Definitely NOT a RACER in My Books ...
But it takes all kinds doesn't it ... I HOPE that HE Learned his Lesson that day ...

I am too old for that sort of riding these days, but that sort of riding takes a honed body & mind and a good handling bike too - ALL Great FUN, but if you stuff up, it can go horribly wrong in a Split Second ...

Great Article and Great Advice for Survival on the roads ....
Cheers mate - I do hope others read and adhere to this article - IT is Very Important - ROAD SAFETY - OUR SAFETY - is PARAMOUNT !!!

Yes I wish I had known some of this stuff earlier in my riding. It probably would have saved me one wreck maybe. Trying to learn more of it to keep things in better control when there are those out of control situations popping up.

Very good article !

Interesting article. I learnt some more today.

Thanks Randy I've taken a lot away with reading those articles, very valuable information.
