The Texas Honor Ride

This Saturday, November 15th, is the 2014 Texas Honor Ride.  It is a great ride and a great way to honor our wounded troops and their families who have so bravely served our country.

Here is their website for registration and information...

Thanks for sharing Charlie!

Great ride. Enjoy it man. They deserve to be honoured.

The day started early with the temp right at 39˚F (3.8˚C) and cloudy. It wasn't long before it started to drizzle and then rain. This weather was to continue for the day. Nevertheless, everything went as scheduled even though turnout was small.

This was our staging area near Seguin as we waited for the Houston group to pass by…

Registration was inside which gave us a break from the wet and the cold…

(Take note of my gloves laying in Hildr's valve covers…great way to warm 'em up!)

I didn't take any ride pictures because of the rain and drizzle. To bad because there were bikes further than I could see in front of me and behind me -- albeit with limited visibility, but impressive nonetheless! Plus, there were folks from nearby VFW posts holding flags on overpasses as we rode through. The sight of all those people holding flags on this cold, rainy day really warmed my heart!

After just over an hour of an expertly escorted ride, we made it to Brook Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio for some BBQ and visiting…

The BBQ was good and hot and we were well received at the facility…

There were some announcements and such (I bought a commemorative T-shirt). This event raised just over $117,000!

After all the announcements we were on our own. We said our goodbyes and headed for home.

On the way I made a stop at one of my favorite places in Blanco…

(Note how dirty Hildr's exhaust pipes are!)

Inside it was warm and I found a little comfort food…

Oh boy…I really needed that!

Made it back to the house 10 hours after I had left with the temp right at 46˚F (7.7˚C) and the drizzly rain never letting up. (Starting to dry out now!)

This truly was a great ride for a great cause!

Looks like a fantastic ride. Wish I didn't work on weekends, I'd definitely have been there

Looks like it was a success, good role up and a great cause, nothing like a pie and coffee to top it of Charlie.
