My Video Camera

My Video Camera

This is the Video Camera that I use - it has a dumb mounting bracket that attached to the camera at the Top - it has just a Slot for the mount to Slide in and a tensioner on the mount to hold it ...  Not very strong mounting point and very limited in how it can be mounted on a bike - The Chest mounting system I have adapted is just a length of 30mm wide black elastic strap wound once around the mounting stem to hold the camera - very simplistic but seems fairly effective ...  I just need to design a better mounting system for it if I can ...

I also use a seperate power supply linked to it - with the flat battery, a 20,000mAh Power Bank measures 150mm x 75mm x 10mm - it fits nicely in the top left pocket of my leather jacket ... it gives me a full day ride with seperate 40 minute videos that get stored on a 32GB Memory card ....
it is a fairly good setup and I just have to sort out a better mounting system - I was thinking of making a cradle sort of arrangement for it to sit into with mounting points on the ends and bottom or just the bottom mount would be ok .... I still like the idea of having the chest mount - it is so light and comfortable you forget it is there and if you get off the bike it just keeps on going till it over dubs after 40 minutes - so I have to Stop every half hour or so and stop the recording and restart for the next video - not a real bother but I do need a clock on the bars to keep an eye on the time ...
No doubt I will get things sorted out in a few weeks after I get my bike repaired through the insurance (getting done this week coming) and I am getting things sorted here for the repaint after that ....

I am doing the bike in a nice light blue metallic called 'Cascade Blue' with Polar white panels around the badges with a nice mid blue pinstriping around the white panels - Very similar to the paintwork on my old '72 FLH Harley I had back in the early 90's - the one I WON 1st Place for best Pre Evolution HD at one of the bike shows here - I loved that bike and the paintwork really suited the bike and I am wanting to capture a little of that for the VN900 C ...  I know it will look Great when it is done and really looking forward to getting it done in a couple of weeks time - so Watch this Space in a couple of weeks time for photos or Video of the New Version of the VN900C .....

Anyway that is my News at the moment - I may finish up getting one of the GoPro knock off's as they are only about $60 delivered ....
Cheers to All - Take Care Ride Safe,

Greg, sorry I don't have any top mounts. All we have is bottom mounts. Not sure they will help you. But if you think they will pm us your address and we will send them to you

Hi Allen - Thanks for the offer, there is no room to get a fitting inside the camera itself as these things are jam packed inside - the only thing that may be able to be done is to find some sort of glue/epoxy that will be strong enough to maybe stick it on the bottom outside of the camera housing itself ... But whether I could trust it to hold fast, is another issue. I still think maybe an outer cradle type of housing may be better - I have some 1mm alloy sheet here that I might be able to fashion a housing/cradle for it and I could incorporate a slot either end for a strap to be used - may even be ok to strap to a helmet then ? - I'm sure that a brainstorming session here will come up with something - I am fairly adept in making something fit and work (most times) ... an alloy cradle that has elastic strap/s with velcro fasteners - Like the same that is used for motoX goggles maybe? - there's a possibility that may work ...
I wil keep your offer in mind as a mount could be incorporated into the alloy housing at the bottom inside of it ...
I will message you my email address so you can send a piccy of what you have there and I will see if I can use it - might be the best at the moment. I don't want to put you to the trouble and expense of postage if I don't think that I could use it - If I think I can use it I'll let you know - ok .... Thank You .... Smiley-laughing

Greg, the mounts we have extra are plastic, I think. Will check to be sure. But any we are not using you are welcome to have and try

I think I have a solution for you Frostbite. I'll post a pic of it in the next day or so. Gotta get ready for bed as I working early tomorrow - Monday. The solution is a mounting bracket I have for my cameras that utilizes the standard thread. You can mount that on your the bottom of your camera. I'll post links of the Ram mounts you would need to be able to put this on engine guards or handlebars.

The only thing I can do is to send you one of my first used cameras. The first and oldest one is 720 instead of 1080 and has a dry weather and waterproof case and I would include some mounts... it works but... it’s only 720 instead of 1080 and I don’t know if that’s good enough... you can watch my first vids on this site, so a few years back in history to see the result of using that camera... I also still have my first 1080 camera and I could send that one to you. That one makes realy good quality images, and it works oke but... the sound isn’t the best quality (but that’s no problem when you use some music on a vid and you can make a combination with some images from that camera and the one you use now for the sound...) and it has no backscreen, so you cann’t see what you tape... so it works the same the earlier more basic Gopro’s did... That camera also has a waterproof case and you can also mount the camera without any case directly using the mounts on your bike in dry weather...

I have a solution that I have made - I will post pics tomorrow - I am pretty sure it will work ok ..... I wish to convey my thanks to all who helped ......
Cheers & Ride Safe ...
