d3o and TPG Motorcycle Gear Tip of the Week from Cruiser Customizing by Manybikes

In this Tip of the Week from Cruiser Customizing, Kyle Bradshaw (manybikes) meets with Greg Beck of Tucker Rocky and talks about the ALL NEW TPG line from FirstGear featuring d3o armor.

The New d3o armor is a specially engineered material made with intelligent molecules. They flow with you as you move but on shock (or impact) they lock together to absorb the impact energy.

Watch d3o technology in action as Kyle beats his finger with a 5 pound sledge hammer... with ZERO injury!

This new advance in protection has been introduced into the FisrtGear TPG motorcycle apparel line.

d3o protection is available in the following FristGear TPG Jackets:

FIRST-TPG-RAINIER (new) FIRST-TPG-TETON (new) FIRST-TPG-MONARCH (new) What are your thoughts about d3o?  Who is this week's Cruiser of the Week?  munchkin1

Thank you for watching this weeks Cruiser Customizing Tip of the week!

 Scared 1  WOW !!

Great review and glad your finger survived!

I am curious to know what the abrassion resistance qualities of the d3o are in comparison to regular CE approved armour?  It might be fine for this material to strengthen and harden during impact but will it last if sliding down a hard road surface.

There is also some obvious difference between the raw putty like product and the finished moulded armour pads.  Would you put an armour pad on your finger and hit it with a 5lb sledge?

 Undecided

Interesting stuff. But as my Aussie mate below says. Will it hold up as a finished product?

The technicalities are amazing I agree but I am not convinced about the practicalities.  Relying on a soft spongy material to go hard on impact is a fair gamble.  Riding bikes is a gamble too.  I'm not sure I want to double the gamble.  Having said all that it does appear to be an impressive product just off that demo.

hmmm  yes lets see the 5lb hammer come down on the armer mould with kyles finger under it, Iam betting on a differant           re-action that will get kyle to pay more atention .Surprised

Geez, what a tough crowd. Look's kinda' impressive to me.  And any technology, that produces something that will protect us as riders, is worth checking out.  Bullet proof vest don't keep you from pain if shot while wearing one, but they will save your life.  IMHO, that's what we're looking at here, something that could lessen the seriousness of an accident.

D3O also works as laptop and iphone cover.

Go watch this video with d3o in a freaking hat.  He hits the guy with a shovel.  Serious.  I've been checking this stuff out.  It's either the best stuff ever, or one of the biggest hoaxes ever.

That looks like some amazing stuff!  That would make having the armor in the shoulders and elbows so much less cumbersome!  Great vid and tip Kyle.  Don't know which is more entertaining, the amazing d3o or watching you completely enthralled with whacking your own finger with the sledge!
